Herbal Winter Wellness Remedies
at Swallowtail Farmstead

Prepare for the cold & flu season ahead by joining us to make several herbal remedies for winter health and wellness.
We will be using herbs and vegetables from our farmstead gardens to prepare three winter wellness remedies together including. The ingredients are simple, and most are likely already in your kitchen, so you can easily make more at home:
- Elderberry Syrup - a delicious healthful tonic of elderberries & honey to build immunity. Using berries and herbs from our farm gardens, plus local honey, ginger and cinnamon, we will make a big batch of elderberry syrup together. You will have the opportunity to customize your syrup by adding your own choice of additional spices and herbs (cultivated and foraged).
- Fire Cider - a delicious healthful medicinal vinegar used to help ward off colds and flu, and promote digestive health with spices, herbs and "fiery" vegetables (hot peppers, onions, garlic, horseradish, ginger, etc) combined with apple cider vinegar. Using simple, fresh, seasonal vegetables and herbs from our farm gardens we will make a big batch of fire cider together. You will have the opportunity to customize your fire cider by adding your own choice of spices and herbs (cultivated and foraged).
- Herbal Cough Syrup - using throat soothing herbs like sage, marshmallow, mullein, elecampane & horehound from our gardens, and local raw honey, we will make a delicious soothing cough syrup so you have a go-to remedy at the first sign of a sore throat.
What to bring along:

kitchen gloves (optional, for handling hot peppers, garlic, turmeric, horseradish)
Workshop fee includes all instructions, recipes, hand-out notes, ingredients, and bottles. Herbal tea tasting included during the workshop.
Extra herbs will be available for purchase after the workshop, if you wish to make more cough syrup or winter tea blends at home.
One child/youth is welcome to attend (free) with a registered adult. In order for us to keep track of numbers, please notify us in advance if you are bringing a child/youth with you.
