practical skills for resilient living

Swallowtail Farm School/Folk School - Practical Skills for Resilient Living
Come join us in our peaceful country setting.  Immerse yourself in learning new skills while surrounded by gardens, woods, field and river, here at Swallowtail Farmstead.  These hands-on small group classes are a chance to share practical skills for resilient living. Leave the class feeling rejuvenated and inspired.  Our classes focus on topics related to field-to-table, natural wellness, and regenerative living.  We are an easy drive from Winnipeg, only 30 min SE of the city.  Please register in advance for a workshop (limited space).

We look forward to offering a space to host practical hands-on immersive small group classes here at our farmstead.  Skills sharing in an informal small group setting is the perfect place to try out hands-on learning while meeting others with similar interests.  We hope our classes provide not only skills, but the opportunity to build people connections, have meaningful conversations, and create a more resilient community.

Our workshops focus on field-to-table experiences (e.g. vegetable fermentation, canning & preserving, fire cider making, wild foraged foods), natural wellness (e.g. soap making, practical home herbalism), and regenerative living (e.g. seed saving, permaculture, natural building, wood-fired baking, basket weaving, fibre arts).

If you have skills you would like to share and would like to lead a workshop here please send us a note telling us about what you want to offer.  We are looking for hands-on classes related to resilient living, natural health & wellness, and farmsteading/homesteading skills.

Sign up for our email list to get updates on events and classes.

We are grateful for all those who have saved seeds, tended land, and passed on plant knowledge before us. We live on Treaty 1 territory, traditional territory of the Anishanaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and the National Homeland of the Red River Metis.
As a small act of reparation a portion of our farm proceeds is donated to Indigenous-led food security programs in Manitoba.

For all Farm Store orders you will receive an email with specific pick-up / delivery details.
