Basil - Genovese

This listing is for a 4-pack of basil.

Organically grown, with certified organic seeds and organic soil.

Genovese basil is the traditional Italian heirloom variety of basil, which is most popular for pesto, cooking or fresh eating. It has glossy, large, almond-shaped leaves have a more pronounced flavour.

Pinch growing tips for bushier plants that grow to 60cm (24") tall. Basil is a heat loving tender annual plant that requires good drainage and ample moisture during hot weather. If flowers develop, either save save the resulting seeds or separate them from the plants and sprinkle over pasta or salads.

Basil flowers are highly attractive to honeybees and other wild pollinators, so is a wonderful addition to any garden! Basil can be planted as a companion to tomato plants. It is said that basil improves the flavour of tomatoes.

Basil can be grown in containers or in the ground. Grows well in planter boxes on a sunny balcony or porch if you don't have a larger garden space.

We are grateful for all those who have saved seeds, tended land, and passed on plant knowledge before us. We live on Treaty 1 territory, traditional territory of the Anishanaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and the National Homeland of the Red River Metis.
As a small act of reparation a portion of our farm proceeds is donated to Indigenous-led food security programs in Manitoba.

For all Farm Store orders you will receive an email with specific pick-up / delivery details.
