Herbs - Calendula (Calendula officinalis)

About:

Calendula is such a wonderful herb to grow - the vibrant sunny orange blooms are long lasting from early summer until after frost (they bloom continuously if picked before going to seed). Bees and other pollinators love these blooms and although it is an annual, the plant will readily self-seed in your garden for next year. Used for medicinal and culinary purposes.

Sun/Soil

The beautiful calendula can grow in many diverse conditions. It prefers full sun to part sun, and warm soil. It can also easily be grownin containers. Continue to deadhead the calendula blossoms in order to keep plants blooming from spring through fall.

Culinary Uses

The flowers are edible and lovely added to your summer salads, ice cubes to garnish your summer drinks, mixed into sauces, salads, soups, egg dishes, fritters, and pestos.

Medicinal Uses

Traditionally used for first-aid remedies like healing cuts, scrapes, and sunburn, as well as all manner of skin conditions when made into a tea, oil or salve (to soothe dry skin, eczema, inflammation, diaper rash).

Comes in a compostable pot, hardened off and ready to plant. Grown with organic seed and organic soil.

We are grateful for all those who have saved seeds, tended land, and passed on plant knowledge before us. We live on Treaty 1 territory, traditional territory of the Anishanaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and the National Homeland of the Red River Metis.
As a small act of reparation a portion of our farm proceeds is donated to Indigenous-led food security programs in Manitoba.

For all Farm Store orders you will receive an email with specific pick-up / delivery details.
