Herbs - Calendula (Calendula officinalis)
About:
Calendula is such a wonderful herb to grow - the vibrant sunny orange blooms are long lasting from early summer until after frost (they bloom continuously if picked before going to seed). Bees and other pollinators love these blooms and although it is an annual, the plant will readily self-seed in your garden for next year. Used for medicinal and culinary purposes.
Sun/Soil
The beautiful calendula can grow in many diverse conditions. It prefers full sun to part sun, and warm soil. It can also easily be grownin containers. Continue to deadhead the calendula blossoms in order to keep plants blooming from spring through fall.
Culinary Uses
The flowers are edible and lovely added to your summer salads, ice cubes to garnish your summer drinks, mixed into sauces, salads, soups, egg dishes, fritters, and pestos.
Medicinal Uses
Traditionally used for first-aid remedies like healing cuts, scrapes, and sunburn, as well as all manner of skin conditions when made into a tea, oil or salve (to soothe dry skin, eczema, inflammation, diaper rash).
Comes in a compostable pot, hardened off and ready to plant. Grown with organic seed and organic soil.
