ANNUAL OPEN FARM DAY & PICNIC

Plus Heirloom Tomato Tasting Event

Saturday August 29

10 am-12 noon

at Swallowtail Farmstead

All welcome! No registration required.

Join us for a free Open Farm Day here at Swallowtail Farmstead. Take part in a guided farm tour to learn about the growing practices and permaculture projects on our small ecological farm. Learn about our CSA (community supported agriculture) program and other farm initiatives. Enjoy an heirloom tomato tasting event, to taste the many delicious tomato varieties we grow here and learn their histories and stories.

If you wish to stay for a picnic potluck lunch at our farm, bring along a vegetarian potluck item (labelled with ingredients). Bring your own dishes and cutlery, a picnic blanket or lawn chairs. We will also have drinks and baked goods for sale.

  • If the weather is exceptionally rainy or windy, the event will be postponed to the following Saturday, Sept 5.
  • The Swallowtail Farmstand will be stocked and open if you'd like to browse seasonal flowers, produce, and other farm offerings.

We are grateful for all those who have saved seeds, tended land, and passed on plant knowledge before us. We live on Treaty 1 territory, traditional territory of the Anishanaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and the National Homeland of the Red River Metis.
As a small act of reparation a portion of our farm proceeds is donated to Indigenous-led food security programs in Manitoba.

For all Farm Store orders you will receive an email with specific pick-up / delivery details.
