Scabiosa - White (Pincushion Flower)

(Scabiosa)

Minimum 15-20 seeds.

Annual

Germinates in 14-21 days

Thrives in well-drained fertile soil, loves full sun

Pollinator Plant

About: The beautiful Scabiosa is easy to grow, and although it is an annual in our growing zone 3, it can sometimes be grown as a tender perennial (being somewhat unreliable in how it regrows). It is a compact plant with small round "pincushion" shaped white flowers, that attract pollinators. The flowers are used in bouquets as fresh or dried.

Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost and barely cover with soil as light is needed to help germinate. Transplant when 3-5 inches tall. Plant seedlings out after risk of last frost is over. Plants can benefit from staking if they grow tall enough.

Organically grown here at Swallowtail Farmstead.

We are grateful for all those who have saved seeds, tended land, and passed on plant knowledge before us. We live on Treaty 1 territory, traditional territory of the Anishanaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and the National Homeland of the Red River Metis.
As a small act of reparation a portion of our farm proceeds is donated to Indigenous-led food security programs in Manitoba.

For all Farm Store orders you will receive an email with specific pick-up / delivery details.
