About: Dyer's Coreopsis is a hardy perennial, native to North America, with wide growing zone 2-8. The flowers also readily self-seed. Grows 2-3 feet tall. Beautiful two-toned flowers, chestnut and yellow coloured. Attractive to pollinators.
Traditionally flowers are used as fresh or dried for making natural dye for textiles, with shades of warm orange, or modified with mordants to coral, yellow, pink, rust. Aprox 2 dozen plants will yield enough flowers in a season to dye 1 lb wool.
Organically grown here at Swallowtail Farmstead.
