Pollinator Plant
About: Catmint is a versatile aromatic plant that is in the mint family related to the more familiar Catnip. It makes a beautiful gently sweet smelling ground cover or garden border, has silvery-green leaves and delicate blue-lavender flowers.
Medicinal uses: Catmint has similar calming properties to Catnip, and has traditionally been used as tea and tincture. Used in a variety of traditional medicinal systems around the world.
Growing tips: Catmint should be started indoors (ideally 6-8 weeks before last frost), and planted out as a transplant after last frost. Sow seeds on surface of soil, and cover with only slight amount of potting mix as light helps germination. It can take 7-10 days to germinate, keep seeds moist during this time.
Growth habit:
Catmint should be cut back to create bushier plants. Easy to grow, and few pest problems.
Other:
Catmint is wonderful for attracting pollinators like bees and butterflies. Cats also absolutely love Catmint!
Organically grown here at Swallowtail Farmstead.
