About: Mugwort is a flowering plant in the Asteracea (daisy) family that is native to Europe, Asia and part of North America. It has green serrated leaves with silvery-blue undersides. Mugwort has been used in many cultures as a medicinal, spiritual and culinary plant for many centuries.
Medicinal uses: Mugwort has a long fascinating history of medicinal use. It is an aromatic bitter, and was historically used in beer making. Being a bitter, it aids in digestion and tones the liver. It has also been used for treating pain and inflammation/infections on the skin. As well, Mugwort has long been used in smoke blends to be mentally cleansing/stimulating, and aiding in dream recall. Do not use if pregnant.
Growing tips: Mugwort benefits from cold stratification to germinate. To help germinate, place seeds in damp paper towel and seal in ziploc bag. Store in freezer for several weeks before planting.
