Farm School: Botanical Cyanotypes - June 28
Botanical Cyanotypes
at Swallowtail Farmstead
Sat June 28, 10 am-12 noon
with Karin Kliewer
Cyanotypes are a beautiful way to create lasting prints on a striking "indigo blue" background. Join us for a fun relaxed hands-on afternoon of making botanical prints using the traditional cyanotype method, also known as "sun printing" (similar to a "blue print").
In this workshop we will be printing images of botanicals (flowers, leaves, feathers) picked from the gardens, fields or forest at Swallowtail Farmstead.
We will show you some examples of botanical cyanotypes we have made, used for making cards, pillows, bandanas, clothing patches etc. We will talk about the processes, prepare the fabric, spend some time choosing botanicals, and then each participant will make two prints on cotton fabric to take home.
All supplies provided.
Please note: This is an outdoor class, so please dress to be outdoors. This workshop can only happen on a sunny day so will be postponed in case of rain.
